Video: Windows Phone 7 Browser Vs. iPhone, Android
We still don't know much about Windows Phone 7 in action. So this video of a Windows Phone 7 device going head-to-head with the leading iPhone and Android handsets is quite a welcome surprise.
Over at Pocketnow, they pitted an LG phone (one of the developer devices that we've seen before) running Windows Phone 7 against an iPhone 4 and the Google Nexus One running the latest Android version 2.2 Froyo. Windows Phone 7 managed to hold its own and even best the other two phones in some aspects.
The main gist of the test is browser speed. Windows Phone 7 wasn't a clear winner but certainly kept up with the competition . It also has the advantage of better page loading with scrolling, doing much better than the iPhone which checkerboarded when scrolling a page too quickly.
The Windows Phone 7 device was also quite responsive. When comparing screen rotation rates, the Windows Phone kept up with the iPhone and only slightly lagged behind the Nexus One.
While this is encouraging, it's possible that the final Windows Phone 7 devices will perform even better. The handset in this video is running an old build of the Windows Phone 7 system and the hardware isn't finalized yet. By the looks of it, Windows Phone 7 may be a healthy competitor when it becomes available later this year.
