The Nike+ collaboration with Apple products made it possible for runners to get detailed statistics about their workouts. Now a new app from Nike and Apple allows them to do the same thing, but without having to buy any additional equipment.
Previously, the app required two pieces of hardware that attached to compatible Apple devices and to running shoes. The new Nike+ GPS app, $1.99 in the App Store, eliminates the need for these extra devices and allows runners to track their run using only an iPhone or iPod Touch .
Nike+ GPS still tracks statistics of a run, such as time and pace, but it also has the added benefit of tracking where a runner goes. That means a detailed map of the runners route is available that also incorporates the pace and speed information into a single visual.
There are also community features for sharing accomplishments, stats and even running routes with friends.
Nike+ GPS works with second through fourth generation iPod Touch , the iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4.
