HTC Making Powerful Tablet After All?
Some time ago, rumors that smartphone maker HTC was working on a tablet were debunked. Now, the rumors are back, with surprisingly specific information.
DigiTimes has already reported that HTC would release a tablet in 2011 running Android 3.0. This time the publication says HTC has contracted with Pegatron, a manufacturing subsidiary of ASUS, to make tablets with the Tegra 2 processor.
While NVIDIA Tegra 2 would make for a powerful media tablet, the specs get even better from there: 2GB of RAM (most tablets in stores or on the drawing board have less than 1GB) and 1280 x 720 pixel display resolution.
Other specs sound more standard , including 32GB of storage, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS. DigiTimes estimates the HTC tablet would cost nearly $800, which would definitely be a problem in the American market. Even though it would be powerful, most people are expecting tablets the same price or cheaper than the Apple iPad.
