Nintendo 3DS Handheld Specs Leaked
Nintendo isn't expected to announce the full details about its 3DS handheld gaming console until the end of this month, but new information reveals the complete specs of the device, including three processors.
Sources for IGN say the Nintendo 3DS will have two ARM11 processors running at 266MHz and a third graphics processor running at 133MHz. This isn't unusual; all the previous models of the Nintendo DS have had two processors and a graphics chip, but the processors in the 3DS are several times faster than previous models.
The Nintendo 3DS will also have 4MB of video RAM and 64MB of RAM, not a huge boost but still more than previous DS models. Perhaps the biggest specs leap is the 1.5GB of Flash-based storage, nearly six times more storage than the DSi model has. There is also an SD card slot for expanding the memory.
The improved hardware will be crucial for running the graphics-intensive games intended to be seen in 3-D. The Nintendo 3DS uses a special screen to portray 3-D images without the need of glasses.
Nintendo has not responded to the spec leak, but the company has previously promised to reveal the release date and price for the 3DS on September 29.
