Online e-commerce site PayPal is the most highly targeted site for phishing scams , according to security experts.
Phishing is the process of trying to steal sensitive information such as passwords and credit card numbers by posing as a legitimate online entity.
During the month of August 2010, more than 53 percent of all malware-infested emails were sent to PayPal; the next victim was Facebook, which was subject to more than 12 percent of all phishing scams. The statistics were compiled by software security company Kaspersky Lab in its Monthly Spam Statistics report issued Sept. 28.
Also on the list of vulnerable sites were eBay, HSBC, Craigslist, World of Warcraft, and Google.
