On Oct. 11, security software firm BitDefender released the Stuxnet Removal Tool, explicitly designed to remove the infamous Stuxnet worm from infected computers .
First discovered this summer, Stuxnet is a piece of malware that primarily targets Windows-based computers used in industrial control systems, but can also affect personal computers. It has recently been linked to the corruption of at least 30,000 PCs in Iran , including those at a nuclear power plant.
The Stuxnet Removal Tool, available as a free download from MalwareCity, removes all known Stuxnet variants from a user's computer, as well as the rootkit drivers used to conceal them.
