Yahoo! App Brings 3G Video Chat to iPhone
Just because AT&T and Apple want to restrict FaceTime use over 3G doesn't mean you're out of options. One of the most recent solutions for video chatting over 3G connections is the Yahoo! Messenger app, or rather a new version of it.
A new update to the Yahoo! Messenger app enables an iPhone 3GS or iPhone 4 to make video calls to anyone who has a Yahoo! Messenger account, including those using using Yahoo! Messenger on a computer.
The service only works for those two models of the iPhone, and only for iPhones running the iOS version 4.1. Apparently that rules out using it on the iPod Touch 4G (on Wi-Fi too).
The app itself is still free , and it can even be used to make free voice calls. There is a fee if the call is international. Regardless, it's a nice alternative for video calls from anywhere you can get a 3G signal.
