Starbucks Launches In-Store Digital Network
Starbucks on Wednesday announced the launch of the Starbucks Digital Network designed to enhance the in-store experience at its company-owned coffee shops nationwide.
In partnership with Yahoo!, Starbucks is serving up a collection of hand-picked premium news, entertainment and lifestyle content along with local insights and events. Powered by free Wi-F i, the network’s content spans six channels: News, Entertainment, Wellness, Business & Careers, My Neighborhood and Starbucks. Content providers also include Bookish Reading Club, Foursquare, GOOD, LinkedIn, New Word City and The Weather Channel.
The content is developed for screens big and small – from Wi-Fi enabled laptops and tablets to smartphones.
"Our customers told us they want to be the first to know what’s happening in their neighborhoods and around the globe," said Stephen Gillett, Starbucks executive vice president, chief information officer and Digital Ventures general manager.
They wanted "to have an easy way to discover new music, great books and important films and find ways to be more involved in their communities."
