It is a strange world we live in when we know a major operating system is coming because we see an oversized plastic facsimile of pastry, but this is just one of the effects Google has had on the world.
That's right, Android 3.0 is coming soon, and we know this because Google has planted a giant gingerbread man on the front lawn of Google's campus.
The various versions of the Android mobile operating system have been named after desserts or pastries in alphabetical order. Version 2.0 was Éclair; version 2.1 was Froyo (frozen yogurt); and version 3.0 is called Gingerbread. Just prior to the release of each new version, Google puts out a giant statue of the version's namesake, meaning that Google's front lawn is slowly accumulating the world's strangest and possibly largest lawn ornaments.
Google put out the video below to celebrate the coming of Gingerbread. Rumors have indicated Android 3.0 would be released sometime in November or December, so the coming of the faux-gingerbread man indicates it will happen soon.
Android 3.0 will bring an entirely new interface to Android devices, along with better large-screen support for tablets .
