The unabashedly large Kno tablet is one step closer to becoming a reality: It has a price. The dual-screen version will cost $899, but consumers can buy a single screen for $599.
Each screen on the Kno tablet is a whopping 14-inches, compared to 10-inches for the iPad. It is mostly marketed as a learning aid and textbook replacement for college students. It's not clear whether notoriously parsimonious college students will think the extra screen real estate is worth the extra money.
The Kno team says that the price will be justified for many students simply because of the money they will save on buying physical textbooks over the course of their education.
The Kno runs on a Tegra 2 processor, which should make it good at handling media, and 16GB of storage. So far, all we know about the Kno tablet operating system is that it will be using a version of Linux, which can mean just about anything. As Apple has shown, consumers may be more concerned with what kind of apps they can get than the kind of operating system that runs them.
The company says it is still on track to release the Kno by the end of the year.
