The Samsung Galaxy Tab is a 7-inch tablet that just barely became available, and already a larger successor has been spotted at a Japanese trade show.
At the FPD International Trade Show, TechOn! got a look at what appeared to be a Samsung tablet , though it was reported as an "electronic book reader." The demo of a 3G video call indicates it will be more than that, though.
The device is primarily intended to show a new super-thin LCD panel (only 1.8 millimeters) technology the company will use. While a device that slim wouldn't be ready for consumers for a couple years, it's quite possible that the display could be slipped into the rumored 10-inch Galaxy Tab that will supposedly arrive in 2011.
For now, the LCD panel is sporting 1024 x 600 pixel resolution, 1000:1 contrast ratio and 50 percent of the NTSC color gamut. It's also supposed to be unbreakable thanks to a special resin used in its construction.
