Microsoft Sold 1 Million Kinect Controllers in 10 Days
Microsoft's latest gamble seems to have paid off as the company has announced it sold 1 million of the Kinect motion controllers for the Xbox 360, and in only 10 days.
Naturally the success made Microsoft executives quite happy, and even a little more ambitious.
"This is a great start to the holiday season, and we will continue to work with our retailer partners to keep pace with high demand and deliver against our plan to sell more than 5 million Kinect sensors worldwide by the end of this year," said Don Mattrick, president of the Interactive Entertainment Business at Microsoft, in a statement.
Kinect sensors allow gameplay similar to that seen in the Nintendo Wii without the need of handheld controllers. It also includes voice-activated controls for Netflix videos and other content available through Xbox LIVE. Kinect sensors are available separately and are compatible with all versions of the Xbox 360, but they are also available bundled with the latest version of the Xbox 360.
