Amazon Can Now Give Kindle Books as Gifts
Until today, it hasn't been possible to buy a Kindle ebook for someone else short of taking their Kindle and ordering it there. Now Amazon has introduced a new feature that allows people to purchase a Kindle book and gift it to someone else, even if the buyer doesn't own a Kindle.
It seems like an oversight that Amazon hasn't introduced this feature earlier; nevertheless it's here just in time for the holidays.
Those who want to give a Kindle book to someone only needs to give the email address of the recipient when they buy the Kindle book. Amazon sends the e-book to the that account so the recipient can read it; the e-book is tied to the recipient's account so they can read it anytime.
The Kindle books gifted to other people can still be read on all the traditional Kindle platforms, including the Kindle device, computers or smartphone apps. Any book in the Kindle store is available for gifting, and just in case you give the wrong book, recipients can trade in their Kindle book gifts for gift cards that can be used to purchase the books they really want.
