It may not have the wow factor of an iPad or Jambox speaker, but Sony’s voice recorder may be one of the most useful gifts for a student. Sony’s small and powerful digital voice recorder has 2GB of built-in flash memory and has direct USB connectivity to a PC or a Mac.

Students can store up to 535 hours worth of lectures. That’s an entire school year’s worth of class time based on taking four classes in each of two semesters. And, files can be easily transferred to a computer to keep records organized when finals roll around.
