December Event for Announcement of iPad Newspaper?
More sources are coming forward to confirm reports that Apple and News Corp. are collaborating to create a daily newspaper for the iPad. Now some are saying that The Daily will be officially announced on December 9.
John Gruber of Daring Fireball says his sources have confirmed that as the intended date of the press event for unveiling the iPad newspaper . Gruber thinks that may change, though. He says if might get pushed back to the following week and be announced along with the Mac App Store.
This press event will reportedly feature News Corp. head Rupert Murdoch and even a few other newspaper and magazine executives. Gruber's sources also reiterate that this is not an extension of an existing newspaper, but is in fact its own separate entity tailored specifically for tablets. It's even more noteworthy because it would mean Apple will finally allow for recurring subscription billing for content.
