'Guinness Gamer's Edition' Packs Tips, Trivia and Imagery
Every year the folks at the Guinness World Records produce a number of guides that recap the record-breakers of the year. And with the popularity of gaming, there's more than a fair share of records to report, whether it's the high score on one title or the number of hours spent playing another.
This week the company released its latest "Guinness World Records Gamer's Edition." It's on store shelves in paperback form, listing at $14.99, though most retailers sell it for less.
Last year's guide focused a bit more on gaming accomplishments within this generation (like marathon "Rock Band" sessions and fastest run-throughs of Super Mario Bros. games), but the 2013 edition features more diverse content meant to appeal to all types of players.
In addition to updated facts and feats, the Gamer's Edition includes a number of hints for current game releases, to help gamers set their own records. A section of this Gamer's Guide is also devoted to retro favorites such as "Pac-Man."
Guinness has filled the book with colorful, beautiful imagery taken straight from various games, making it fun to glance through. Be sure to check out, in particular, the results of a readers poll on the 50 most visually stunning games.
You can pick up the Gamer's Edition 2013 guide now at Amazon, Barnes & Noble and other retailers.
