New year's resolutions are pretty easy to break, but some people are actually learning to stick by them, finds research from the food-delivery site GrubHub.
The website has revealed numbers indicating that people are dining healthily into the new year, showing that they are sticking closely to their weight-loss goals.
GrubHub tracked the number of takeout orders over the first three weeks of 2013, trying to see if diners were, in fact, sticking with new year's resolutions to lose weight and eat healthier. Previous GrubHub analyses indicated that the number of healthy orders dropped off significantly in 2011 and 2012, lasting a total of two weeks at best.
However, for 2013, the number of healthy meals ordered has spiked 10 percent compared to those years, with no immediate signs of slowing down, reports GrubHub.
The website's team has tracked these numbers across a number of popular cities, including New York City, Chicago, San Francisco, Washington, D.C., and Los Angeles. In addition, the following cities have showed surprisingly strong growth of healthy eating:
Atlanta: 20-25 percent
Philadelphia: 10-15 percent
Boston: 5-10 percent
Of course, it helps that GrubHub has a number of healthy options to help out its users, including using cuisine filters to find specific foods and order customization.
