Apple is calling Flipboard the app of the year in the company's Rewind 2010 package released today that highlights the year's best in downloadable media and applications at the iTunes store.
Flipboard cobbles together social media posts from Facebook and Twitter into an easy-to-read and attractive magazine-style layout.
This innovative way of viewing popular offerings on the Web is exactly the sort of experience Apple has in mind for its customers; after all, the iPad's buzz line is "see the web, email, and photos like never before."
It doesn't hurt that the app has been critically acclaimed as well. Overall, given the continued growth of Facebook and Twitter, Flipboard essentially makes for good app company for Apple to keep – and to promote.
