Augmented Reality App Translates From Spanish to English in Real Time
Less like Babel Fish and more akin to Star Trek's universal translator, Word Lens really kicks digital language assistance up to the next level. An augmented reality app for the iPhone, Word Lens takes a picture of text in either Spanish or English, and then translates it into the other language.
The app retails for $4.99 in the Apple store, with English and Spanish as the only currently available languages. Engadget reports that the translation capabilities are currently imperfect, but undoubtedly more languages and better idiom support will emerge over time.
