Verizon Teases 4G Android Phones/Tablet for CES 2011
It's about time, frankly. Verizon decided it was time to hint at some upcoming 4G hardware by tweeting a message that indicates the carrier will have LTE Android phones to show off at the Consumer Electronics Show in January.
Verizon's Twitter account posted a message implying that Android and LTE (Verizon's version of 4G ) will come together like a corny food analogy, namely, peanut butter and chocolate on January 6 at CES.
So far the 4G phones have only been rumors and leaked product shots, so it will be nice to get some official information on what they will include and when they will be available. HTC and LG are both expected to have 4G smartphones to show at CES.
However, mentioning Android specifically raises a few other possibilities beside smartphones, namely Android tablets. Motorola has been teasing us with an Android tablet running the Honeycomb version. And images of that tablet clearly show a Verizon logo, raising the possibility that it too will be 4G-capable.
We'll be at CES in Las Vegas next month to find out. Stay tuned for more information.
