In anticipation of the Consumer Electronics Show opening Thursday in Las Vegas, Samsung officially announced its SH100, a compact Wi-Fi enabled camera that lets users share their photos and HD videos instantly to Facebook and other photo sharing sites.
This camera goes a step further than Samsung’s previous wired cameras by offering connectivity to its line of Android -powered Galaxy S phones. Now you can stay in the shot and operate your camera remotely at just the right moment by viewing it on your phone.
The SH100 also offers connectivity to HDTVs and PCs. By selecting the PC Auto Back-up function, your camera will automatically find your PC and download the latest photos onto it, even if the PC is turned off. This feature is compatible with the Wake-on-LAN (WoL) system which many modern home PCs are already equipped with, according to Samsung.
The SH100 includes an account with mobile hotspot provider Boingo, offering access to over 200,000 Wi-Fi hotspots worldwide.
