Apple Mac App Store: 1 Million Downloads in One Day
Well, that was fast! Just a day after opening the Mac App Store up to Mac owners, Apple has reported one million downloads in the first 24 hours of business.
"We're amazed at the incredible response the Mac App Store is getting," said Apple CEO Steve Jobs, in a company statement. "Developers have done a great job bringing apps to the store and users are loving how easy and fun the Mac App Store is."
The Mac App Store opened its digital doors on Thursday (Jan. 6), offering over 1,000 apps ranging from productivity to gaming. It might come as little surprise that the ever-popular game app Angry Birds, which was ported to Macs for the release of the Mac App Store, is the most-downloaded app in the Mac App Store so far. At $5, this is especially surprising given that Angry Birds is cheaper on the iPhone and free on Android.
However, there are reports indicating that this figure might not mean 1 million purchased apps. Apparently, some users have already figured out that they can download an app purchased by someone else simply by using their Apple ID.
