All iPhones Could Get Personal Hotspot Feature in March
The personal hotspot feature for the upcoming Verizon iPhone that allows up to five devices to jack into the phone's Wi-Fi to go online might come to all iPhones soon.
The blog Boy Genius Report said a source has confirmed this option will be enabled by the next Apple smartphone software release due in March, iOS 4.3.
Verizon's iPhone , debuting Feb. 11, will have this hotspot feature right out of the gate, but it wasn't known if other carriers – AT&T in the United States and others abroad – will have support for it, too.
Pricing information has not been released and there's no official word from Apple to back up the scuttlebutt. However, it seems unlikely that AT&T in its ongoing arms race with Verizon will permit such a hotspot missile gap.
