BlackBerry Dakota Has Touchscreen and Keyboard
Though the iconic feature of a BlackBerry smartphone is the physical keyboard, touchscreens are all the rage in smartphones now. As the leaked images of the BlackBerry Dakota show, RIM has decided to cram the two together.
Boy Genius Report received a leaked image and some specs for the BlackBerry Dakota (which is likely not the name it will be sold under). The image shows a pretty standard BlackBerry design reminiscent of the Bold series . However the screen seems to be larger, which will be a capacitive touchscreen measuring 2.8 inches with a 640 x 480 pixel resolution.
Other specs include a 5-megapixel camera that can record HD video, 4GB of storage, 768MB of RAM, WiFi and Bluetooth.
The BlackBerry Dakota is also slated to launch with the BlackBerry OS version 6.1. So far there is no projected release date for the Dakota, and RIM has yet to even announce it. However, many experts think it will be part of a new marketing push with touchscreen phones for RIM.
