Sprint Offers First 4G Roaming for Americans Abroad
Sprint today announced that U.S. customers traveling in Jamaica and Taiwan can seamlessly connect to partner carriers in these respective regions. Note ― we're talking USB Internet sticks, not phones. However, Skype calls over that fast 4G connection may be very appealing to travelers.
Sprint devices such as its USB 600 that operate with Sprint's SmartView Connection Manager will automatically detect Digicel's 4G network in Jamaica and Global Mobile 4G service in Taiwan. Cost? $14.99 for an unlimited 24-hour daypass.
“We are excited to be Sprint’s first 4G roaming partner in Asia and looking forward to extending this alliance to our partners around the world,” Rosemary W. Ho, Global Mobile's CEO, said in a statement, indicating that other destinations are in the works.
Sprint's 4G service is now available in 24 states plus the District of Columbia.
