Motorola Xoom Price Is Official, and Still Expensive ($799)
Many consumers enamored with the new Motorola Xoom tablet have been hoping the $800 pricing rumors were inaccurate. We've got some bad news for you.
Motorola CEO Sanjay Jha told Reuters that the Motorola Xoom will indeed be $799 when bought with a 3G contract from Verizon. Apparently this is an unsubsidized price, and it's not clear if Verizon will offer any deals.
The Xoom will come with 3G connectivity that can later be upgraded to 4G, along with 32GB of storage and the new Android 3.0 Honeycomb operating system . The price makes it $70 more expensive than the comparable Apple iPad.
Motorola will also sell a Wi-Fi-only version for $600, which matches the price of the 32GB Wi-Fi iPad.
So far, there still isn't a solid release date, but rumors indicate pre-orders will start Thursday, leading to a full launch the following Thursday.
