iPhone 5 Images Support Larger Screen Rumors
The rumors that the iPhone 5 will have a larger display have been corroborated by purported images of Apples next smartphone.
Third party retailer iDealsChina managed to acquire "mold engineering drawings" that are supposed to be for the iPhone 5. They show a design quite similar to the iPhone 4, with the same aluminum band around the edges and the same antenna configuration, but with a larger screen.
Despite Apple's secrecy about its products, many accessories makers get a hold of design specs like this from Chinese workers in order to make cases and docks and other accessories.
The larger display connects nicely with previous rumors that the iPhone 5 will have a larger display . The drawings clearly show that the overall size of the device hasn't changed much, but the bezel around the screen is much thinner to accommodate the larger screen.
However, these drawings do not mesh at all with the most recent rumors that Apple would return to a curved aluminum back and move the antenna, which would make the iPhone 5 look nothing like the device in these drawings.
The iPhone 5 is expected to be announced sometime this summer, likely July, in keeping with Apple's yearly launch schedule. In addition to a larger display, the iPhone 5 is rumored to run the new dual-core A5 processor and include a few other interesting features such as NFC payment.
