Could Netflix be the next HBO? The DVD mail-order and Web streaming service is reportedly working to acquire its first-ever original TV drama.
Netflix is in negotiations to obtain a series called "House of Cards," which focuses on a British politician in the U.S., according to Deadline.com. The series features Oscar-winning actor Kevin Spacey and is directed by David Fincher, who recently directed "The Social Network" .
The move might give Netflix the opportunity to become a network that competes with cable TV big-hitters such as Showtime and HBO.
The company has not yet commented on the status of its bid to get the show.
