Best Buy to Carry HTC Flyer This Spring
ORLANDO, Fla. – Sprint's recently unveiled HTC View 4G tablet will be available at Best Buy stores this spring, a Best Buy spokesman confirmed to TechNewsDaily here at the CTIA Wireless conference.
Best Buy will carry HTC's 7-inch tablet as the HTC Flyer, which is the name the device first had when HTC announced in February the device was coming .
The HTC Flyer will come without a data contract because it operates only on Wi-Fi.
The Best Buy representative also confirmed that the stylus pen accessory, which allows the user to take notes and draw directly on the touch screen, will be sold as a separate accessory, though he couldn't confirm if Sprint will do the same for the HTC View 4G .
Despite the impressive accuracy of the stylus pen, the HTC View 4G seems a little behind the Android tablet competition on other networks mostly because it doesn’t run Android 3.0 Honeycomb. The HTC Flyer, on the other hand, may be much more attractive to consumers because Wi-Fi-only tablets are consistently priced lower than their 4G counterparts and they don’t require a two-year data contract.
If the HTC Flyer can break the sub-$400 barrier, it could certainly be an attractive alternative to the more expensive Android tablets.
Although the Best Buy spokesman noted that the HTC Flyer will be available this spring — before the HTC View 4G launches in the summer — pricing details could not be confirmed.
