Toshiba recently announced the release of a 14-inch, USB-powered Mobile Monitor that is ideal as an additional screen for any Windows-based laptop computer.
Long a necessity for the tech-obsessed, dual monitors can translate into higher productivity. And now for the first time, the portable cordless Toshiba monitor will allow users the bonus of a double-monitor set up while on the road.
The 2.8-pound, inch-thick widescreen LCD monitor boasts 1366 x 768 resolution and easily slips into most laptop bags . The monitor’s power and video are both through a single USB connection, eliminating the need to carry an AC adapter or video cable.
The Mobile Monitor includes a protective black vinyl carrying case, which folds into an adjustable stand that can be set to various viewing levels.
Two ways to see double
Windows gives you two setup options when adding a second monitor. You can extend the display across both screens, which is useful when you’re working alone and want to have full-size views of both a window in your browser and a document, for example.
Alternatively, you can choose to duplicate the display on each monitor when there are multiple viewers – a good option when giving a small presentation.
Once you’ve hooked up a Mobile Monitor by using the included cable connected to your laptop’s USB port , here's how to adjust what you see on the second monitor: Open the Start menu, select Control Panel, then Personalization, followed by Display Settings, and finally select Multiple Displays. Here you can choose to extend the display across both monitors or duplicate the display on each one.
The Mobile Monitor is now available at toshibadirect.com and on its way to major electronics and computer stores nationwide with a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $199.99.
