Today’s Cyberthreats: Facebook Bunny Scam, Seized Laptops
Each weekday, TechNewsDaily’s colleagues at SecurityNewsDaily give us a roundup on what’s worrying the guardians of cyberspace. Here’s what’s happening:
FACEBOOK BUNNY SCAM: Two hilarious scams are spreading across the Web: the first tags Facebook users in a photo of a girl dressed in a Playboy bunny suit. The other sends spam emails asking recipients to confirm if they are, in fact, dead.
SMARTPHONE USERS OBLIVIOUS: A Kaspersky Lab survey found that most people wrongly consider surfing the Web on their smartphones safer than on a PC, and tend to be unaware of mobile threats and extremely lax and careless about storing personal data on phones.
OPEN YOUR LAPTOP, PLEASE: Better think twice about crossing the U.S. border with your laptop. Two federal courts have ruled that digital devices such as computers can be seized by Customs agents without a warrant and sent off-site for forensic inspection.
