First Nokia Windows Phone 7 Devices Revealed
|
Nokia has a deal with Microsoft to produce smartphones running the Windows Phone 7 mobile operating system, but we haven't seen any actual devices from that partnership yet. An industry insider reports that we already know what they look like.
Eldar Murtazin, an industry source with a solid record for Nokia rumors, says the Finnish phone maker will debut two Windows Phone 7 devices, called the W7 and W8. The W7 will reportedly be essentially the same as the Nokia X7 the company announced earlier this week. The W8 will be the Nokia N8 that we've also seen before.
Both devices have solid steel construction and touchscreen interfaces. The X7, for instance, has a very angular, industrial design and a 4-inch AMOLED display.
The W7 is already being used as a test phone internally at Nokia, reports indicate. Nokia said its first Windows Phone 7 devices wouldn't be available until 2012, but it seems strange that they would plan to use hardware that was announced so early in 2011 , raising questions as to whether the debut of a Nokia WP7 device might have been moved up.
