Re-Use Your Old CRT Speakers
Flat-panel monitors have been the way to go for a few years now, but many people still have an old CRT sitting in the garage. What to do?
Well, many models still have speakers on the sides, and they are often pretty durable. If you open the CRT up you can dismount them. Attaching the wires to a 3.5 millimeter input jack (You can get them at Radio Shack or similar supplier). and you have a set of speakers that will work quite well with the average iPod.
Making a housing for them is even easier: a simple plastic, metal or wooden box will do, and in some cases the grille attaches to the speaker itself.
