T-Mobile to Offer Value Plan with Unlimited Talk, Text and Data
T-Mobile announced a new pricing plan called the Value Plan, which will offer unlimited talk, text and data for any device on the T-Mobile network.
"Families are looking for ways to affordably include mobile data so the kids can communicate via social networking, watch YouTube and surf the Web without parents breaking the bank," Tole Hart, senior analyst with Yankee Group, said in a statement. "Plans that help them get more while paying less will get a lot of attention."
The Value Plan will include single- or multiple-line options that cover a range of talk, text and data configurations. There will be unlimited options for talk, text and data, though data plans aren't truly unlimited . Customers will choose to pay for 2 GB, 5 GB or 10 GB of data per month, and while there are no overage charges, T-Mobile has said that data speeds will be slowed significantly for anyone who goes over their monthly limit.
Even though the plans will be available starting July 24, T-Mobile has yet to announce full pricing details. So far, the only hints are that a plan with two lines, unlimited talk, unlimited text and 2 GB of data will cost $100, which is significantly less than comparable plans on AT&T or Verizon. T-Mobile will also offer a data plan separately for $20.
Value Plan customers will be able to bring their own device or choose from any of T-Mobile's phones. T-Mobile is also offering the option to put a down payment on a device and then make interest-free payments on the device month-by-month.
The previous Even More plans will still be offered, but they will be rebranded as "Classic" plans.
