Walkman Goes Wireless
Sony today announced its new fall line-up of MP3 players, including two with wireless Bluetooth streaming.
The Walkman A860 and S760 are the first Sony units with Bluetooth-enabled streaming from the unit to wireless headphones, speaker docks and car audio units. Both play video as well as audio and can wirelessly share photos from the player to mobile phones.
All three new MP3 players come with MediaGo software for drag-and-drop transfer of music, videos and photos from Windows Explorer or iTunes. The software includes SensMe―Sony's version of Apple Genius―that automatically categorizes your music tracks into different channels. It also has a karaoke mode and a language learning mode.
Sony included compatible Bluetooth headphones in the fall collection that can be charged from a PC or from the Walkman. Headphones will run four hours on a single charge, according to Sony.
The MP3 players will be available at the end of August. Prices have not been announced.
