Apple iTunes Replay Launch Imminent, Sources Say
Apple is reportedly nearing a launch date for the iTunes Replay service, which will allow iTunes users to re-download movies, music and TV shows they have previously purchased.
It seems a little absurd that those who lost their copy of something they legally purchased wouldn't be able to download it again, but such has been the case so far with iTunes. If for some reason you lost the file for an iTunes movie, your only recourse was to beg iTunes support staff for another free download (something which wasn't always granted).
iTunes Replay would negate that problem by making it possible for users to download files they had previously purchased as often as they want. It would also include some limited streaming functionality for viewing purchased content while away from the user's main computer.
AppAdvice has confirmed with multiple industry sources that the launch of iTunes Replay is imminent, although a set date isn't available. Apple has been said to be working on this service in the past, but there is no official word from the company.
