Verizon CEO Ivan Seidenberg has confirmed today that he has spoken to Apple specifically about bringing the iPhone to the Verizon Network.
The fact that Verizon wants the iPhone isn't particularly new; we've heard rumors of that for well over a year, and Verizon even said last year that AT&T's exclusivity contract with the iPhone would end in 2010 and Verizon would pick it up.
However, this statement does confirm that Verizon is actively petitioning Apple for the right to carry the iPhone on its network.
Seidenberg also mentioned a recent article from the Wall Street Journal reporting that Apple was already creating a version of the iPhone for the Verizon network, although he did not confirm if the report was correct. He also did not give any information about when customers can expect to see an iPhone on the Verizon network.
