Make Your Old iPhone an iPod Touch

Upgrading to a new iPhone is wonderful, but sometimes selling the old one isn't a satisfactory solution, and simply throwing it away is bad for the environment and a waste of several hundred dollars. That said, it is possible to stop accumulating old iPhone shells. Make your iPhone into an iPod Touch.
You have to leave the SIM card in, but even though the network service won't work the Wi-Fi will, and that is all you need to use the App Store or iTunes. If you are contemplating buying a new iPhone 5, it means you can still gift the iPhone 4 to someone. Try that with an Android phone.
Waste not, want not.
