Doxie Go Scans Minus a PC, Syncs With Any Device

Scanners have historically been bulky affairs, but that’s changing. One of the latest entries into the portable scanner market is the Doxie Go, from Apparent Corporation. There are other portable scanners; the selling point of this one is a large memory capacity – 600 pages – and the fact that it doesn’t need a computer to work.
The Doxie can sync to any device (that will include those from Apple, though it will cost an extra $39), has its own memory card and will turn anything you scan into a searchable PDF, using optical character recognition software. Another neat trick is sending documents directly to cloud-based services such as Google Docs or DropBox. All in all, a helpful item if you don’t want to be tethered to a laptop and need to scan something on the go.
The Doxie Go isn’t available in stores yet, though it is pre-ordering for $199 and should start shipping in November.
