The holiday shopping season starts early online. Amazon.com opened its Black Friday Deals store today (Nov. 2), promising discounts on gift items including cameras, video games, movies, tools, watches, jewelry and clothing from now through Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving.
Amazon offered a preview of its deals but wasn’t naming the days on which they will be available. Shoppers can look forward to a Fujifilm FinePix F505 Digital Camera (includes 4 GB Memory Card) for $179, which is 55 percent off the regular price; a Philips speaker system for iPod/iPhone with LED clock radio for $49.99, a 39 percent discount; and its popular "buy two, get one free" offer on Electronic Arts sports video games, including FIFA Soccer 12 and Madden NFL 12.
Big-ticket items such as HDTVs and laptops will be available at more modest discounts. For instance, Amazon today has an LG 42-inch 11080p 120Hz HDTV with built-in apps for $679.97, a 15 percent saving.
As in prior years, Amazon will unveil a “lightning” deal each day at 6 a.m., with additional single offers scheduled throughout the day. These discounted items are offered in limited quantities, and shoppers can see the percentage of inventory remaining during the deal.
Free shipping is available on eligible orders of $25 and over.
Holiday shoppers can track Amazon deals on Facebook, Twitter and on their smartphones with Amazon’s free mobile app available for iPhone, Android and BlackBerry.
