Everybody has dropped his or her iPhone at some point. And sleek and cool as the iPhone is it can break when it hits concrete. That’s why the good people at CaseMate designed a case that is built to military specifications. That’s right, you could be updating your Twitter feed from the middle of the revolution in Libya or in the toughest zones of Afghanistan, and your iPhone will survive.
The company says it’s made with the same design as a motorcycle helmet – the outside is hard and shock resistant while the inside provides padding. The outside is made of polycarbonate, the same stuff used in bulletproofing glass. The inside is a softer silicone layer. It even has a retractable cover for the touch screen.
It may seem like a bit much to have a case that can protect an iPhone from this much abuse, but given the $60 price tag anyone who knows they are clumsy (or in a place where military specs matter) it’s probably not a bad investment.
