Video sharing site Vimeo today (Jan. 9) announced the release of free mobile apps for Amazon’s Kindle Fire tablet, Android phones and tablets and Windows 7 phones. Users who have these devices will be able to watch videos on Vimeo and upload their own videos directly to Vimeo.
The new app eliminates the need for a middleman when posting to Vimeo. Without the mobile app, users had to download their videos to a computer and then upload to the site. The new app allows videos to be uploaded in HD or standard definition. Titles, descriptions, tags, privacy settings and credits can be edited in the app.
Vimeo mobile lets users “like,” comment on and add videos to their “Watch Later” queues. Videos can also be shared via Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, WordPress, email and text.
The Vimeo app is free to download from the Android Market, Amazon App Store for Android and Windows Phone Marketplace. It is compatible with all Android devices running Android version 2.3 (Gingerbread) and above as well as Amazon Fire and Windows Phone devices running Windows Phone 7.5 (Mango) and above.
