iPad Wi-Fi + 3G Arrives April 30, Apple Says
|
Apple announced today that the faster 3G version of its iPad will arrive in stores on April 30. Pre-orders will also be delivered on that day.
The update comes a day after Apple changed its Web site to say that the iPad Wi-Fi + 3G model will begin shipping on May 7.
Last week, Apple said that international orders for the iPad will be delayed until the end of May per strong domestic demand in the United States.
Bloomberg has reported that a key reason for this delay is a production bottleneck for the iPad's special 9.7-inch multi-touch screens.
These screens are made by three companies, LG Display Co, Samsung Electronics, and Seiko Epson Corp, according to the research firm iSuppli, which disassembled an iPad in early April to identify all its components and figure out what makes the tablet computer tick.
