LAS VEGAS -- Getting up is never easy. But some times are harder than others. That’s because we sleep more deeply from one moment to the next. That really jarring, mind-numbing ringer you heard one morning? It probably came at a really bad time.
The $200 Gear4 Renew SleepClock promises to make mornings a little easier. The clock radio dock for iPhones, iPads and iPods includes a motion sensor that measures your breathing and heartbeat to determine when you are actually asleep and how well you are dozing at any time. The results are graphed on the Apple device so you can see how well you sleep from day to day and figure out what you may have done – such as exercise at a certain time – that was better or worse for your slumbers.
And instead of setting the alarm for a specific time – say 6:30 a.m. – you can set a range such as 6:15 to 6:45 a.m. By watching your sleep patterns, the software on your iPhone can figure out when you are sleeping the lightest and are easiest to wake.
If only it could get breakfast ready, too…
