Worried about germs? Your phone is pretty dirty in that respect. But washing it is usually not an option, and with expensive smartphones many owners don't want to risk damaging them with solvents.
Whether you are germ paranoid or just always forget to wash the barbecue sauce off your hands before tweeting, the Seal Shield can help by wrapping your iPhone 4 or 4S or iPad 2 in flexible plastic. The manufacturer claims the seal will allow the device to go underwater with no ill effects, and that it even offers protection from bacteria via chemicals infused in the plastic. The clear plastic transmits finger touches to the screen and is transparent, so the cameras will still work.
This is a useful thing if you use your idevice in a bath (and who doesn't like reading in the tub?), have kids with grubby hands, or want to emulate Howard Hughes' sense of cleanliness. Prices are $20 for iPhones and $30 for iPads. They are available at stores selling Apple accessories and from Seal Shield LLC's web site.
