Apple Sets Date for International iPad Launch

Apple's iPad will go on sale internationally on May 28, with preorders beginning next week, the company announced today.

Already a runaway success here in the United States, the iPad will be available in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, Switzerland and the UK on the last Friday of the month.

Pre-orders for those countries will be taken online and in Apple's online stores beginning Monday, May 10.

Apple said it also plans to release its tablet computer Austria, Belgium, Hong Kong, Ireland, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand and Singapore in July.
