The Underbelly of the Internet

As we become more addicted to technology and our social skills atrophy, we need more apps and sites to help us find love or, at least, release. We have dating apps that are actually used more for casual hookups. And then there are sites promising more discreet encounters.

As for the socially awkward and just plain lewd, there's also plenty to be had on the Internet.

Here are the top 10 of the bottom feeders.

Fast Seduction (website)

This pickup artist site offers such chestnuts as "Cheating and lying is OK, so long as you benefit." It's the usual objectifying of women as commodities to show how much of a high-status male/stud someone is. The better-looking the women a guy scores with (and strippers are considered to be "10s"), the website insinuates, the better his life will be. Backhanded compliments or insults apparently make women mad with desire.

Countdown Until Rebecca Black Turns 18 (website)

Viral songstress Rebecca Black is best known for her improbable breakout hit, "Friday" when she was 14 (that was last year). And in the vein of the Olson twins, Miley Cyrus and Emma Watson, some perv wants to know the exact date she will turn 18 so he might have a chance with to date her . . . or something. The whole idea of pining for a 15-year-old is just icky.

WKTK 2 -High School Girl (app)

The Japanese schoolgirl fetish is rampant on Google Play, with several photo-based apps. Some are titillating, like one with photos of a woman dressed in a school uniform and hints at upskirt peeks. Others are voyeuristic, with pictures of innocent underage schoolgirls. However, the WKTK app has the most disturbing photo — of a schoolgirl lying limply across a desk, suggesting that she's a willing victim.

Anime SexyGirl Shaky Boobs LWP (app)

It's one thing to like an Android app called "Boobs, Boobs, Boobs!" At least they're of human women. It's quite another to be jonesing over anime drawings of jiggling breasts. We wonder if the users still live with their parents, who are worried that Junior may never leave their home or venture out into the great unknown of social interaction.

Adult FriendFinder (website)

You may remember Adult FriendFinder from its ubiquitous pop-up ads in the early 2000s. Now that ad-blocking browsers have ended that nightmare, the site relies on its reputation as "The World's Largest Sex Dating Site & Swinger Personals Community." The photos tend to be provocative, if not plain explicit, with naked body parts and couples looking to swing.

Grindr (app)

At least the gay dating app Grindr says what it is: "Grindr is quick, convenient and discreet. And it's as anonymous as you want it to be." That can't be any clearer code for "hookup." The location-based app finds fellow users nearby who are up for a casual encounter, without the need for pesky pleasantries like conversation or knowing one's real name.

SugarDaddyForMe (website)

It's a tough economy, and sometimes a girl needs a sugar daddy to take care of the bills. SugarDaddyForMe is not the only site that aims to pair impoverished sugar babies with prospective sugar daddies. The site promises women that it is filled with "generous men who are willing to spoil you."

What's Your Price? (website)

Women using the new dating site, "What's Your Price?" can make money as men bid up to hundreds of dollars for a chance to date them. " is the only online dating website where money can buy you love — or at least a first date," it announces. Is it prostitution? Not really, since sex isn't promised or implied, but it sure sounds skeevy to take $150 to have coffee with someone.
(website)

"Ashley Madison is the world's leading married dating service for discreet encounters," so says the site filled with men in various states of undress. This is the place to go for men and women looking to hook up with like-minded adulterers.

Craigslist's "Casual Encounters" (website)

Craigslist's "Casual Encounters" section of its personals is renowned for both its intimate snapshots and frequent requests for "friends with benefits" or "no strings attached" disposable relationships. It's strangely compelling because the people placing these ads sometimes use everyday photos of themselves (or at least of someone) along with graphic depictions of their genitals, with headlines reading, "Seeking Jailbait" or "Young Male Seeks Grandma."
