For those with an adventurous streak, heli-boarding might be appealing. You hop in a helictopter and fly up to where ski-lifts don't go. Once you get to your destination, you jump out and the trail is all yours. Previously, heli-boarders relied on regular helicopters which were not designed for the task, but now a new concept helicopter will cater directly to snowboarders.
The cabin features five bench seats on each side with a footrest so you can keep your board on for the entire flight. When you reach your destination, the entire cabin lowers out just enough so you can leap out make your way down the mountain.
According to a report from Yanko Design "the coaxial rotor blades spin in opposite directions to provide more power and negates the need for a tail rotor for stabilization. The design also addresses a number of problems with single blade rotors."
Not to mention the coaxial design ensures that no power is wasted, as 'the engine when clubbed with a coaxial design injects all the power for a better lift and thrust," said a report from Design Buzz.
For now, the Drop is just a concept, but maybe soon you'll finally get that heli-boarding experience.
