Usually the early product shots of unofficial devices are leaked by anonymous sources, not the manufacturer. But Samsung has decided to skip the middle man and just post an image of its upcoming tablet.
Earlier today, the South Africa branch of Samsung posted the above picture on Twitter (it has since been taken down), with a tweet saying the phone was the Galaxy S and the tablet was called the Galaxy Tab.
This is just another step in a line of leaks from the company about its tablet project . Previously, a marketing manager let it slip that an Android tablet was in the works. The tablet is indeed running the Android operating system, although the original rumors said the device would be called the S-Pad. Clearly, Samsung has decided to brand the Galaxy Tab with the Galaxy line of phones instead.
Before the image was taken down, a Twitter follower responded, asking for more details. @SamsungBlogSA replied that the Galaxy S has a 7-inch "high-res TFT screen" and a 3.5mm headphone jack at the top. The image also clearly shows a Phone icon in the Android interface, indicating that it might have calling functionality at release.
The Samsung Twitter account said the Galaxy S would be coming to South Africa, but did not mention availability anywhere else in the world or when it would appear.
