Microsoft's Project Natal Renamed 'Kinect'
Microsoft has officially named its Xbox 360 motion-sensing system Kinect a year after the effort first emerged under the name Project Natal, reports Gamespot.
Kinect will use a camera to detect players' movements that will then be translated to on-screen action. The full announcement and details will come later today at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) being held in Los Angeles.
For now, other Kinect scuttlebutt suggests that the franchise games Halo: Reach, Gears of War III and Fable III will be coming out for the system, and that a Star Wars game and some Wii Sports-like athletic titles are also in the works.
As for the name, Gamespot speculated that Kinect is a tie-in to Microsoft's line of social Kin smartphones that launched in April.
